Dolce Vita Jax Ankle Boots
Size: 7M
Asking Price: $130 + location-specific shipping SOLD!

These beautiful nubuck leather boots were a Christmas gift from Alex. Unfortunately, after tracking down what seemed to be one of the last pairs in existence online, they turned out both not to fit, and to be non-returnable (fine print, fine shprint, am I right??)

They now appear to be totally sold out in this particular size and color combination, so if you have been wishing and hoping for a pair to pop up, please let my misfortune be your windfall! They were originally purchased for $200, but I'm happy to let them go or $130 plus location-specific shipping. These boots are in near-new condition, and have only been worn around my house a couple times while trying them on and pouting.

Email me at sirithorson@gmail.com if you are interested, and I will reply on a first come, first serve basis. Payment by Paypal only. Discounted boots to a loving home!

(Many thanks to my friend Agnes for snapping these pro photos for me!)

HAT TRICK

The good news: I found this secondhand Eddie Bauer beauty a few days before escaping the city back in July. Constructed from chocolatey brown felt and sporting a rugged braided leather band, it's a true rarity in that it fits perfectly atop my delicate noggin'. Only took me a couple years to track this marvel down.

The bad news: I "misplaced" my digital camera while home in Washington. (I refuse to say "lost" because I still cling to the hope that it will emerge from the floorboards of Dag's car or the bottom of some bag of detritus. Fingers crossed.) Preparing to embrace Photobooth with gentle resignation once more.

The other good news: Fortunately, I've finished off almost four 36 exposure rolls of film in the last month, the first of which I'll post up soon!

NORGE

osloeffected

It's been hard for me over the last 48 hours to process what's happened in Norway. On the one hand, I have to admit to being frustrated by the lack of acknowledgment of the tragedy in the non-Scandinavian blogosphere--BUT that said, I also understand that not everyone feels like a blog is the ideal platform for expressing these kinds of sentiments. I guess I just feel weird not talking about it here when it's affected every other part of my life.

I've never been to Norway, but I have strong Swedish and Norwegian ties on my father's side (the marriage of a Thorson and an Almqvist.) I'm also supposed to be in Oslo for a day during the upcoming Øya festival. I'm still incredibly excited to finally be visiting one of the places I've wanted to travel to for as long as I can remember, but now my mind is also heavy thinking of the shock and sadness that this country, this city, and these people have undergone. My for all of you.

BACK

Back home and well on my way into the post-vacation-doldrums. It feels so strange not to have to get up and get on the road again, planning the next route, where to stop for lunch, pulling off to admire the vistas and huddle back into the car once more. It felt good to see the City loom up on the skyline yesterday evening...but now I just want to keep going. As usual.

Dress: secondhand
Boots: Vintage Dingo brand
Bag: L.L.Bean Signature

I'll admit, I've been fighting off a pretty wretched case of post-vacation blues these last few days. It's just so hard knowing that I wont be able to visit home again until around Christmas (hopefully) which means many months of no cabin, no best friend, no cats/birds/sheep, no family and no farm. And it'll be a whole year until I can make up for all the warm weather things I somehow failed to do this summer (Swimming! Kite flying! Skim boarding! Rollerskating in empty parking lots!) All this exacerbated by finding out that I lost about a third of the film photos I took, mostly of Dag and her sweet cat Zowie and her beautiful home...SOB!

ANYWAYS, today I forced myself to put on my brightest dress (handmade in India! It was a diaphanous One-Size-Fits-None until I took it in quite a bit) and get busy running errands. I ended the day with a nice set-down in the little park near our apartment, trying to remind myself that all of NYC isn't concrete and grime and sirens and dudes who sit next to you in Barnes & Noble and make weird/awful snuffling noises every twenty seconds until you wanna punch them in the head...

Also, I'll admit, this is basically the exact same thing I wore last week while sipping tea and eating mini red velvet cupcakes at the Rebecca Minkoff headquarters. The designer and her team were sweet enough to invite a few bloggers around to have a look at all their gorgeous shoes and bags. The colors! The textures (namely: BUTTAH.) The things that handbag dreams are made of...

Dagmar is a lady AND an expert chicken wrangler.

I'm back in New York tonight, and missing this face (and this pack of jungle fowl) like nothing else. Somehow it only gets harder and harder every time I have to leave after a visit. I've always gotten horribly homesick, even when I was a little kid, even when we'd only be a few miles from home. I wish I could outgrow it, but I fear I never will. I've got that ache-y, break-y feeling. You know the one.

don't that boot all?

I've just found what may very well be the boots I've been looking for my whole life. I spied them first on Fiona Jane of Spotding, but it wasn't until I saw them again in Karen Blanchard's closet over on Style Like U did I realize that they're by All Saints. I am so in love with them, and no wonder--they're just about the spitting image of my beloved Dingo's, only with fringe (and all that harness crap is fully removable...)

I know I would wear the hell out of them, so why why WHY do they have to be $230??? So not happening. Way to crap all over my dreams, shoe fairy.

I wish upon wish that these wonderfully simple Marais USA sandals came in pink suede instead of pink patent (like their kitten heeled counterparts...only sans kitten heel. Cannot, will not get down with that.) I love the style and the crazy-bright color, but I think patent may be my least favorite shoe material. Suede on the other hand, oooooh suede. Anyways, I guess there's nothing left to do but say le sigh.
