LAURA ASHLEY FELT HAT

New Hat

It is SO DAMNED HARD for me to find hats that fit. They are almost always too big or too, I don't know...deep? Or something, something that causes me to look like a child playing dress up in them. Or causes my vision to be fully obstructed while wearing them. Or both.

So when I tried on this Laura Ashley(!) felt number while I was staying at my best friend's place back home in January, well, what could I do but beg, whine and cajole her into giving it to me? (For the record, I didn't have to try that hard.) I couldn't carry it back to NYC with me, so she shipped it some weeks later. To be honest, I haven't had the guts, or the occasion, to wear it out yet. But I do love it! Also, I feel like I don't show my face so much around here anymore--which I am quite fine with! But just in case you were wondering, hi, hello, this is my face right now. In my awesome new hat.

:n )

Oh man, I mean I'm sure it's plenty annoying for you...but trust me, that is the exact problem I've wished I had all my life!!

It looks great, and I love your golden locks!! I have a small head hat problem too, I went a long time thinking that all hats looked stupid on me, but it really is all about fit. Do you have a hard time with glasses too? I look like a bug in most, especially sunglasses.

i love your face right now! and shut up about not having the guts! you have great style and you know what suits you. dont be afraid!
think about when you see some cool girl on the street wearing something awesome you know you would feel a little scared to wear.. well theres prob gonna be some girl thinking the same thing about you when you wear this hat out. and you just inspired her to go home and try out her hats. ahh, the circle of style :P

no need for guts, agreed with all the girls here - it looks like it's meant for you and you should just wear it out!

doesn't hurt that you're gorgeous, too...

Here's quite a coincidence: I was just coming back from the thrift store, wearing my new HAT (and it's extremely rare that hats fit me, I correspond to your description), I checked your blog and... you know the rest! It looks perfect on you, it definitely deserves a little trip outside.

I couldn't agree more. Finding a perfect hat for you is really troublesome, its a good thing you're spared from trouble. Go on take w walk with that hat, its worth boasting you know.

Aw shucks y'all. I swear I'll take it for a spin around the block ASAP!

Anja: Yes! Sunglasses are the worst, absolutely. Normal size ones always look HUGELY over size, it is so frustrating! None of the sunglasses I like ever look anything but ridiculous on me, boohoo.

Wear it! Wear it and love it. Still on the hunt for one to fit my oddly large head! This looks super cute on you! No need for guts at all. x

Stupid 'wrong sized' heads. I can never wear hats either but that's because my head is enormous. They just perch on top of it drawing attention to its humungousness. Most undignified...

that hat is so LOVELY! It's hard to find hats that suit me, never mind FIT me! haha. I've just been drooling over the red felt hat over at clever nettle, and now this too. i'm in hat heaven today.

Ohmy, that's a beauty!
I have troubles finding the perfect one too, my head is so damn small...

while I completely identify with that lightly scary moment of wearing something new out, especially when it is a bit out there (which this isn't by the way) or something like a hat, it looks awesome so you needn't worry. go forth!

I have the exact same problem, which annoys me as I love hats. This one is great

I have more than once tried on a hat in a store, been POSITIVE it fit, only to come home and find it to be much too big. What's up with that?! I think the hats grow on the way home.

Nice hat, it's so unusual to see someone in US wearing a hat. I like it, it's so British :), last month when I was in London, I noticed that many women are wearing them, like a statement of their high position in the society.
