1. She got to rep the best pair of Marais USA shoes, which I have in theory been saving up my pennies to buy when they are finally released in May (in theory...)
She also got to frolic around in Prospect Park wearing said shoes with a bunch of other fine lookin' ladies (and she is really good at hoola-hooping, you will see):
2. She favors dense, rectangular-shaped foodstuffs, and is in search of the perfect green smoothie.
3. She writes one of my very favorite tumblrs.
4. Three reasons are more than enough, I assure you!

Monday
Yesterday was a nice, loungey day...
...up until I had to go to school, on my day off no less, to take a scary placement test. CUNY really makes my blood boil sometimes (...lots of times), but whatevs, I passed!
I didn't actually venture outside in this outfit (unless you count our roof), heh, but there's nothing I love more than dressing up just to lie around the house. Good, harmless fun.
It breaks my heart that these vintage Foster Grant sunglasses I bought ages ago are comically oversized on my tiny face, but sometimes I wear them around anyways, especially when all my sunglasses from last summer are either scratched beyond use or just plain missing.
Also, I'm wearing the deer tooth necklace that my best friend made me for Christmas. I keep trying to convince her to give me one of the pairs of antlers she's found and collected over the years, but so far no luck.

The Time and Place for Dreams to Begin
This was my absolute favorite editorial from the latest issue of Lula Magazine. I wish I could dress like this all summer long, soft and sort of Seventies, but also a little Victorian, with a wee bit of the Twenties mixed in? Some of it also reminds me a bit of those wonderful Lyell lookbook shots I always see floating around...

O God, it's so nice out...
...O GOD, I HAVE NO FLIPPIN' IDEA WHAT TO WEAR.
This phrase has basically become my mantra this weekend. As much as I've been desperately anticipating warmer weather, it's still always a shock to the system to suddenly find yourself in the midst of it!
This was just one in a series of outfits I tried on yesterday in a desperate attempt to cobble together some sort of spring (nay, summer?) outfit from my closet full of cardigans and wooley skirts. Craaaaap, where'd all my little dresses go? Did I ever really have them in the first place?? How do I, what do I, aaaaaaaaaah!
Today I've resorted to something a lot more shorts-and-a-tank related. Sigh. No fun, my babe, no fun!

Another designer collaboration gone sort of...blah
Man, when I first heard that Barbara Hulanicki was going to be doing a collaboration with TopShop, I was pretty stoked. I mean, Biba? Good god, that place was amazing! The clothes, the black lacquered everything, the Art Deco labels...oh what a dreeeaaammm. I mean, the New York Dolls played in the Rainbow Room, for chrissake!
Then, I saw the preview.
I mean it's...fine? And the video Lookbook certainly makes it all seem at little more exciting...
But overall I'm pretty disappointed...though maybe disappointed is too strong a word? I'm just sort of...meh. There's no other way to put it, really.
And, closeted Olsen fan that I may be, seeing MK wearing the last top (as a dress no less):
...still does not make me want to own it. Any of if. Alack, alas. I'll just have to keep on holding out for the Biba Book that's been on my wishlist for a million years!

Being a Hasbeen has never looked so good...
Not once but twice today while I was out and about, I saw girls wearing amazing little wooden-soled clog-sandals. Which reminded me of...
...the Swedish Hasbeens I read about in Elle the other day! The first style actually reminds me a bit of those Rachel Comey Dekalb Clogs. Sadly, while they cost about half as much (if my Kroner conversion is accurate...), they are still out of my price range.
(Also sadly, far too many of the "inspiration" photos on the site feature disembodied legs swathed in extremely unfortunate shiny leggings, wearing shoes of questionable fit. Really, Sweden? That's the best you could do??)
What's worse, once I reached my destination (Refinery, to try on some Saltwaters, thanks Linda!), not only was the shop filled with similar but even MORE adorable Swedish clogs at unaffordable prices, I also found to my extreme dismay that the Saltwaters might actually be a no-go. GASP! They're so much wider than I expected, my stupid feet were swimming in the 7's, even though they were right in the length. Nooooooooo!
POSSIBLE SUMMER SANDAL FAIL?

Rock out with your socks out...
Yes, Chloë was at Coachella.
Yes, she was rockin' socks...with sandals (good god, I mean, wasn't it really hot there???)
And yes, this only makes me love her more.
Speaking of which, going back to those Saltwater sandals...for any of you lovelies who mentioned you already own a pair (or pairs!): considering the fact that I am a 7.5, and that they only come in whole sizes, and bearing in mind my brain sickness concerning sandals that don't fit pretty precisely, would you recommend I get a 7 or an 8? I'm leaning towards a 7 but I want to be sure I can actually shove them on my footsies...

Bravo, bravo, bravissimi!
Monday night, we went to see a performance of Don Giovanni at the Metropolitan Opera.
We had standing room only tickets...and it was pouring rain...and freezing cold out. But we persevered!
It was overall pretty amazing, I love Mozart to death (in no small part due to Amadeus, as wildly fictitious as it may be...), all except for the part where I got busted by an usher for trying to sneak into some empty seats after the intermission. Dudes, you can't blame me for trying--that was a pretty brutal three and a half hours! By the time the Don was on his way to eternal damnation, I was on my way to the eternal fusing of my spine...
This dress is among my favorite things I've ever thrifted. It just fits, and was definitely handmade at some point. I don't get a lot of opportunities to wear it out since it feels so fancy. Guess I should go to the opera more often, duh.
In conclusion: well met, Met.

Rachel Comey Shoes, on Feet
For Suzy.
Man, for some reason it was way hard to find photos of people actually wearing her shoes...or at least the ones I posted. I suppose because they've come out pretty recently...but anyways, here's what I came up with!
