wenvrsleep Fall 2012 Collection Lookbook: Clement Greenberg Collection
Photographer: Dustin Fenstermacher
Stylist: Siri Thorson
Jewelry: wenvrsleep/Sarah Beaver
Model: Laura O. @ Commence Quest

Clothing: Ermie, Ilana Kohn, vintage, stylist's own

Hard to believe that it's already been a week since I had the pleasure of helping out Sarah with the lookbook for her fall 2012 jewelry line. It was a long, roller-coaster ride of a day, but in the end we got the model on the phone, tracked down the space (thanks Frankie!), caught the last of the day's light and pulled it all together. And then we ordered pizza.

If, like me, you fell pretty hard for Sarah's first collection, be forewarned: you are about to have your socks blown clear into next week. The craftmanship, the attention to detail and color and proportion, are all stunning. Combining sheet metal, hand water-colored paper, glass, heavy cord, and meticulously sourced findings, I can honestly say that the Clement Greenberg Collection is quite unlike any jewelry line I have ever seen. "Special" might be a worn-out cliché of a word these days, but there is truly no more fitting a way to describe every last one of the pieces I handled that day.

The line is set to drop imminently, so be sure to keep an eye on Sarah's shop. You can also follow her tumblr for a peek at what influences her designs. Big things are in store for Sarah, I can feel it, and I wish her every success!

GARNETT JEWELRY GIVEAWAY

doublepoint

Double Point

It's been a while since I hosted a good ol' fashioned giveaway, so today I'm very excited to offer up the chance for one of you to win this beautiful necklace from Garnett Jewelry. Designer Aimee Munford's line of earrings, necklaces and bracelets is a gorgeously eclectic mix of vintage and new, charms and pendants, glass beads and semi-precious stones. And while every piece is handmade with care by Aimee herself in her Richmond, VA studio, she still manages to keep her price points gratifyingly reasonable, which I both appreciate and respect.

All you need do to win this double-pointed crystal necklace, strung on sterling silver chain, is "Like" Garnett Jewelry on Facebook, then leave a little comment here letting me know you've entered. This giveaway is open worldwide, and the winner will be notified on Monday, July 11th. Very best of luck to all!

EDIT: And the winner is...Kallie of Happy, Honey and Lark! Congrats Kallie, your necklace will be on its way in no time. And thank you SO MUCH to all who entered and checked out Aimee's gorgeous jewelry.

I first became aware of the amazing Miss Sarah Beaver many years ago now, back in our wardrobe_remix days. Since then, I've eagerly followed her career--not only as a stylist, but also as a person with extremely excellent taste in basically everything. Her latest venture is no exception: We Never Sleep is a line of beautiful jewelry hand crafted from artisan-made and deadstock materials. Her first collection draws inspiration from such seemingly disparate sources as Constantin Brancusi and the Free Masons, but in context it all makes perfect sense: rich, earthy woods and semi-precious stones combine with elegant metal findings and Czech glass beads to create pieces that are as wonderfully simple as they are substantial, all shrouded with a touch of the mystic. Not only am I crushing hard on everything in her shop at the moment, but I'm incredibly excited to see what wondrous direction Sarah's creations take next...

crazy ass shit

BL

I'm a little late posting these, but here's a couple shots from a shoot I assisted on a few weeks ago. The stylist pulled some amazing Matina Amanita jewelry, including this crazy-ass owl cuff! He also had more big sparkly rings than you could shake a stick at. Blingggg.

hooray!

In other exciting jewelry news, I came home today to find a package from Kathryn, aka the Vamoose, waiting for me! I sent her a little care package of big silky shirts and Japanese treats a little while back, and the gorgeous bounty I received in return filled me with both wonder and amazement. Pictures soon!

I'm not a huge jewely person, but I would absolutely flip to own any one of these incredible pieces by Michelle Lane. They remind me of sea creatures and the braided closures on Chinese robes, and the swirls on that first bracelet look uncannily like the baby fiddlehead ferns I had for dinner the other night. Mmmm...ropey.

I'm head over heels for this new Scout Holiday paint spatter necklace. I love the way she photographs the pieces as well, it's all just about perfect, really.

I feel like I've wanted one of Arielle de Pinto's amazing crocheted metal pieces for as long as can remember (which, apparently, is only as far back as 2007, since that's how long her line's been around...) The lookbook for her 2010 collection is totally rad, and incidentally makes me miss both California and having a proper, knock-about summer vacation.

You can read more over on the FADER, and be sure to check out her collaboration with Anntian, which is all kinds of mixed-media coolness.

let's thrift again (like we did last summer)

A couple of weeks ago, I saw this photo on The Facehunter:

I love absolutely everything about this outfit, but I fell especially hard for the shoes. I've been looking for a little old lady pair of t-strap sandal-y shoes for eons, so it was with a semi-silent whoop! of joy that I grabbed these off the Thrift Store shelf the other day:

Ok, so I'm pretty sure hers are still a tad cooler, but these babies make me feel like I'm walking on air so I'll let it slide. Hello arch support! From the same store, I've also picked up a pair of granny oxfords:

And some intimidating leather boots:

Finally, to round things out, a few pieces of flair that would make any grandmother proud:

The only thing missing from this picture is a tall, cool glass of Metamucil...and my retirement fund.

Ring in the new

Two vintage VOGUE brand rings arrived in the mail today from, where else, eBay. The one looks like a funny birds nest, and the other is little pink rose. Spring has sprung on my fingers!

I'll save you the rhyme...

I finally used up the Urban Outfitters gift card that's been burning a hole in my pocket for nigh on a year (see a pattern here?) Mostly, things from the Urban Renewal line make me angry and a bit sickened that I'm paying through the nose for things I could find at thrift stores and make myself, not to mention all the amazing vintage dresses and whatnot they're butchering and making into horrifying ill-fitting tunic tops. But this little number was FREE, so I'll leave it at that.

I also got this little pinecone necklace! It reminds me of home, the Evergreen State.

And, my shoes came from eBay, and they are lovely little things!

Small Wonders

I'm in a bit of a financial crisis at the moment, even more so than usual, but of course that hasn't stopped me from thrifting. I braved resentful stares from old women today and ventured into Collector's Corner.

Blatantly fake Chanel bling. I have serious doubts that I will ever have the balls to wear this in public.

I have a lot of trouble with jewelry. Most of the time it just feels so showy and unnecessary, and I only really enjoy pieces that have some sort of sentimental value. But I can't say no to big ridiculous pendants. I tried on a chain that carried a two inch wide gold scallop shell today. I wanted to laugh out loud with joy but I was afraid the old ladies would eat me.
