Only thing missing? A ginormous package of Twizzlers, most of which I ate that night (I couldn't find any red rope licorice, and apparently they don't have Red Vines on the East Coast--can this be true??) After seeing the Crystal Stilts play somewhere out in the boonies, our evening culminated in a fuzzy trip down the McDonald's dollar menu. I guess some crullers from Mikita's would have been more authentic, but who's counting? Also:
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? So what can I say except...gosh, thanks Alexa! You're makin' me blush!! (photo of me 'n Al by Ben, photo of Alexa and Aggy found here)
I just spotted the cover of the newest issue of Lula Magazine (which should be out mighty soon!) over on So Much to Tell You. Bless you ladies!! I haven't seen it posted anywhere else. Who knows how they got their hands on it...maybe it's because they're living 12 hours into the future??
PLUS I finally got my hands on RUSSH #29 today. Aaaaah, I haven't even had the chance to crack it open yet, but I am so happy. I'll try and scan my favorite bits, though I have faith it will be hard to choose. 'Twas a good day for glossies indeed!!

Yesterday involved more treats, flowers and florals than you could shake a stick at. Pretty tremendously excellent, even if it did rain a little on my lemon verbena soft serve with dried apricot chunks. Thanks for all the wonderful birthday wishes you guys!
Friday was a funny day. I woke up at my boyfriend's house to surprisingly warm weather, and surveyed the pile of mismatched, rumpled clothing that I had let accumulate on top of his hamper over the week. Faced with the possibility of rain, and the knowledge that I would be walking a lot that day, I decided it was imperative that I dress in layers.
Everything was going along swimmingly--grab a little of this, a little of that--but when it came to top it all off, I realized to my horror that the only jacket I had was my big, heavy, smothering peacoat. Unacceptable! I knew if I wore it I'd just end up having to carry it around half the day when I got overheated, but that if I didn't wear some sort of top layer I'd get cold as the day progressed.
Fortunately, I happen to be a pack rat genius. As I was pawing desperately through the hallway coat rack, I came across this tweedy blazer I'd bought at some stoop sale months ago and left (I'd like to say with clairvoyant fore-sight, but probably just brash carelessness) hanging safely between the wooley Pendeltons and duffel coats. In the end, I rather liked the results of all this forced creativity: a mix of prints, textures and materials that had me, finally, ready to face the day!
(Oops I guess it's actually afternoon now. Whatever, morning is a relative term. I've been know to call 4:30 pm "morning")
Work and school are still safely on the other side of the known universe, you got to see your favorite Weezer cover band last night, and now all that's left to do is eat some fruit salad and think about how many unbelievably productive things...can totally wait till Sunday.
