jason rider (?) in Phillip Lim

First Alexa, then this dude...I still want to DIY myself a version of this Phillip Lim button up. I actually ordered myself a bunch of conical studs a few months ago in an uncharacteristic fit of motivation, only to find they were too large and looked way too much like rows of silver nipples. Anyways, I think maybe I'm feelin' gold a little more now, à la these gloves?

Oh man, I'm so in love with this Forestbound canvas carryall I found via Effie's blog. It's made of a salvaged 100-plus-years-old apple sack, and the leather is from a Swiss military backpack from the '30's. Uuuuuum. Yep, pretty much. 'Course, it's kinda a moot point since it's already sold out!

I'm always looking for alternatives to the same old grungy canvas tote I invariably end up falling back on. I just get so frustrated not being able to fit enough stuff into other bags--not that I'm that high maintenance, it's just that I like being able to say "no" to plastic bags while shoping as much as possible. Cram it and go, friends!

Ora-nge you glad?

Finally, someone who realizes that there are way too many pairs of hideous leather pants out there, and not nearly enough awesome leather backpacks.

If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do

It's really gotten quite nippy here (or as was en vogue to say in high scool "nipply"!) I just want to stay inside and snuggle down in my bed and listen to Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Is that so wrong? Haha. Fortunately, my mother knitted me this hat just in the knick of time. Thanks ma!

I fell asleep in the Language Lab today, while Italian dialogues concerning the likes and dislikes of blonde cousins and amiable grandmothers were piped into my ears. I hope my subconscious picked something up. Heaven knows my conscience is packed full these days.

Sew what?

Last night, I made a dress.

I bought this fabric at a thrift store almost a year ago and I've been totin' it around ever since, promising myself that I'd eventually make something out of it. My imminent move has sent me into a sewing frenzy, as I'm not exactly sure if I'll have a working sewing machine in New York (and I can't take my beloved Bernina with me).

Basically, I just followed American Apparel's lead and made a Fine Jersey Tee Dress, leaving some excess at the neckline to create sleeves.

It's far from perfect, but it's the first thing I've actually made from scratch in a mighty long time. Almost all my sewing for the past few years has been dedicated to hemming and adjusting. I look forward to making more of these things, they're insanely easy! Oh, and I still have a vintage pattern for making underwear lying around somewhere--next stop, choniesville?
