Dolce Vita Jax Ankle BootsSize: 7M
Asking Price: $130 + location-specific shipping SOLD!
These beautiful nubuck leather boots were a Christmas gift from Alex. Unfortunately, after tracking down what seemed to be one of the last pairs in existence online, they turned out both not to fit, and to be non-returnable (fine print, fine shprint, am I right??) They now appear to be totally sold out in this particular size and color combination, so if you have been wishing and hoping for a pair to pop up, please let my misfortune be your windfall! They were originally purchased for $200, but I'm happy to let them go or $130 plus location-specific shipping. These boots are in near-new condition, and have only been worn around my house a couple times while trying them on and pouting.Email me at sirithorson@gmail.com if you are interested, and I will reply on a first come, first serve basis. Payment by Paypal only. Discounted boots to a loving home!(Many thanks to my friend Agnes for snapping these pro photos for me!)

No matter how lean the times or how low the available balance, certain things remain constant: I am unable to stay clear of resale shops, I love a good bargain, and I live with one of the sweetest boys on the Eastern Seaboard.
As a direct result of these circumstances, a few awfully nice things have made their way into my life over the last couple of months: Wilder Quarterly (a surprise gift from Alex after a particularly rotten afternoon), a striped top that is the exact inverse of my all-time favorite shirt, a well-loved but still well lovely silk and rhinestone Phillip Lim tee, soft dove grey leather and cashmere gloves that will be destroyed immediately after their first trip outside in a proper snowstorm (but hey, nobody's perfect right??), a little pearl-covered glasses case that is shedding fake pearl dust everywhere I go, a bottle of Lincoln Park After Dark for my toenails, and two pair of gently used shoes. Material reminders of what a damn lucky girl I am, even as the unpaid invoices pile up and the hole in my best pair of boots grows ever larger.

(click photo for deets)Forget Miu Miu heels, Giuseppe Zanotti wedges, even Isabel Marant's brilliant boots: If I could choose just one pair of fancy, schmancy, embarrassingly expensive shoes to own, it would be a pair of two-tone, beige and black, cap toed Chanel flats. They are, quite simply, the dreamiest of dream shoes. Today, a wet and grey but surprisingly temperate day, this is what I'd choose to wear with them. Dream baby, dream.
Truth be told, this is not what I wore today, or even yesterday (for that you're gonna need to tune into Turned Out next week!), this is from thursday, since today was way too hot and muggy to give a rat's ass what I looked like. Seriously, I think I sweated half my face off. The weather here is making me miss the West Coast like mad, because even though I hear that summer is only just starting to rear its head over there, you guys know that once it finally settles in, it's gonna be gooooood.
My new flats from Pop Fizz Vintage, with cute lil' roses on the toes. Aaaaw! I've been sans a pair of black flats for way too long, you can't imagine how frustrating it is when the only pair of comfortable, flat, closed toe shoes in your closet are bright green (or maybe you can?? In which case, I pity both us fools!)

Spotted (ha, literally!!): a pair of mighty Alexander Wang-ish leopard print pumps, from Luxe de Ville on Etsy. Woulda snapped these up in a second if a) I had the dough and b) I thought I could cram my feet into them. Size 6.5's, rejoice!

As someone who is both an avid stalker of Etsy AND avidly unemployed, I've amassed quite a collection of items that I couldn't manage to justify purchasing over the last few months, but also can't quite bare to delete off my favorites page now that they're sold. A little bit of e-commerce masochism, I guess.
Unsurprisingly, pretty much all of them seem to involve a platform. This is because my fantasy life involves my living in a world where I can one, afford to buy wildly impractical vintage shoes off the internet, and two, manage to walk around all day in said shoes without falling on my face or giving a rat's ass if people think I'm insane. Do you guys do this to yourself too? What's the item you most regret letting get away? Haha, and sorry if this is dredging up some bad memories...(images via Fox Farm Vintage, Peacock Feet, Vintage Shoe Love, Regal Vintage, Vim & Vigor, and Golden Old Rags)

I love these photos of Clémence Poésy from the April issue of Vogue UK.
In the second photo she also happens to be wearing the Carvela suede boots from Kurt Geiger that I want so badly--but they don't ship to the US. Just as well since they cost a pretty penny (as so many pretty things do!)

• There's so many books and magazines on my wishlist right now! Lula, The Selby, The Facehunter...wouldn't even mind The Sartorialist while we're at it.• I'm really looking forward to wearing some khakis this spring and summer! Not so much looking forward to the fact that they'll be covered in spaghetti sauce/bird poop/chocolate by fall.• Still got my eye on you, Nixon...• I think I've finally decided on the style of Swedish Hasbeens I'm gonna save up for. Now I just have to decide on the color. Red? Black? Natural? HELP A GIRL OUT!!• I definitely need more stripes in my life, but that's pretty much a constant given. I'd love to finally get my hands on a top from St. James this year. Pricey, but I hear they're kinda the best.

Meet the newest addition to my feline arsenal:
Snow Leopard! It's like regular leopard print, only kinda chilled out and stuff. Also, is it just me or are baby snow leopards even cuter than baby regular leopards? I think it's the blue eyes. No doubt you can see the family resemblance??

So I am reeeaaalllyyy not supposed to be doing any shopping before my trip, but today my resolve imploded like the Kingdome and I bought these crazy-ass shoes.
I mean, come oooooon. They're canary yellow, they're hairy, and I had just enough credit at Beacon's to make them technically free. Funnily enough I think they're by a Japanese brand? Also:
They make me approximately one billion feet tall (which in my case actually means just, like, normal amounts of tallness.)

Speaking of crazy shoes and blowing my mind...I'm itching to know just which lucky dame with size 6 feet, $120 extra clams, and cojones the size of bowling balls is gonna snap these glorious suede sky scrapers up?? Would that it were me, but two out of three elements of this equation are sorely missing.
After much deliberation, I've decided to sell these Western loafer heels I recently nabbed. Not that I don't love 'em, it's just, well, how do I put this...it maaay have something to do with the $60 bones I threw down today on a pair of sandals at the Opening Ceremony sample sale. But more on that later! For the time being, shop Maude Loves Harold Vintage (and help buy me some groceries.)
My fake Christmas list, continued. Part I is here.
a)
It's really hard for me to settle on just one style of Swedish Hasbeens to wish for...but at the moment, these are exactly what I need to be clomping around in, paired with thick black tights and something short and flowy.b)
I still don't own the Criterion Edition of this movie, one of my all time faves...but it'd be a lot cooler if I did!
c)
Clearly, my decade of choice. This book looks amazing.

Even though I would just fill it with painfully inane things like grocery lists and notes from magazines I'm too broke to buy, an unlined, pocket size, glossy red Moleskine is truly a thing of beauty.

Last year, my sister bought me the most beautiful teapot from Roost. It's incredibly delicate, and the fact that I have made it almost a full year without smashing it gives me confidence that I could own something as precious as this Jonathan Adler whale pitcher. I've been a bit obsessed with it ever since I saw the butter dish in Domino ages ago. And there's a shoe too!I'd love to know: what's the best/nicest/prettiest thing someone's ever given you for Christmas?
I know it's the holiday season and all...and I know I'm supposed to be spending my money on OTHER people (and don't get me wrong, I am, and how), but I'll admit I caved today and bought these gorgeous western booties from Ruby Chic Boutique.
I'm really partial to things with a tasteful western vibe--first my Dingo boots, now these. Maybe it's because I'm a native Westerner living in an East Coast world? Or could be I've just got a big ol' crush on (the original) Blondie...
here's hoping they fit--but if not, rest assured I'll resurrect my shop long enough to send them off to some other lucky gunslinger.
