One of the (many) things I'm most looking forward to this time back home is getting down to some serious arts & crafts with my best friend (or as Alan Shemper used to call it, arts and farts and crafts!) I started doing a bit of experimenting with very basic shibori techniques last summer, and I'm definitely looking forward to learning more this year. So I was excited when Kalen, one of the designers behind Upstate, got in touch to let me know about this little collaboration with Of A Kind. The beautifully dyed crop top, pictured above, is limited to a run of only 30 pieces will be available starting tomorrow morning.Read more about Upstate here and watch a great little video right here.

A few years ago now, I arrived in NYC from Washington via California determined to stay true to my West Coast sensibilities, in all their bright, mish-mashed, paisley, crazy quilt and sixties-polyester glory. The longer I've lived here, I'll admit, the further my tastes have skewed towards a more refined, simplistic, hell even minimalistic approach to getting dressed--though I have little hope of (or interest in) ever getting over my aversion to black. Nevertheless, the thrill of a really great print will never, ever lose its appeal. Case in point: these Deyrolle x Opening Ceremony pieces. You may have seen Miranda July prancing about Sundance in the yellow cat print top, which I was awfully excited to find out wasn't vintage after all. Foxes also happen to be a favorite animal of mine (probably because they remind me of cats), so this stuff is kind of blowing me away at the moment. Oh dang, can you imagine it as wallpaper???(See the Deyrolle x Opening Ceremony Spring lookbook and video feature here)

Following in the (unfailingly well-clad) footsteps of Rhiannon, I'm guest blogging over on Minkette during the month of September! My first post is mostly about cookies...but also kitties and puppies! Wheee! Click through for your daily dose of twee ;n )
Check it: my friend Anja aka Miss Clever Nettle is running a seriously amazing contest over on her blog at the moment. Basically, it involves one of my greatest loves, Polyvore, and the chance to win a $1000 Visa giftcard (that's a lot! Of money! Holy jeez!)
All you have to do is visit this post and use her mini-editor to create as many pretty Fall outfits as you like. I really hope that we/she win(s), and we can totally make this happen! There's plenty more info in her post, so I wont waste your time with details, and instead just say LADIES (and gents?), START YOUR (collaging) ENGINES!!

It's no secret that I pretty much constantly have a very long wishlist of "amazing things I wish I had the spending money to drop on," but when two of those objects collide into an amazing collaboration, it's almost too much for me to bear! Behold: designer of tie-dye wonders Shabd has teamed up with Baggu to create...tie-dye canvas backpacks and satchels! Such a brilliant idea.
P.S. Does anyone know where I can pick up a regular Baggu 16oz. Duck Bag (the second style pictured, sans tie dye) in New York City ASAP? I'd like to get one to put all my junk in before I leave Tuesday morning :n )
