Ok, our flight leaves in about 11 hours...and yep, I'm still awake, oops! Thank you all yet again for the tips and reccomendations, I don't know if I'll be able to follow through on more than a handful of them but regardless I know I'll have an amazing time. Hopefully I'll be updating here and there, I don't really know what the internet situation is going to be yet but I'll give it my best shot.
Snow Leopard! It's like regular leopard print, only kinda chilled out and stuff. Also, is it just me or are baby snow leopards even cuter than baby regular leopards? I think it's the blue eyes. No doubt you can see the family resemblance??

So I am reeeaaalllyyy not supposed to be doing any shopping before my trip, but today my resolve imploded like the Kingdome and I bought these crazy-ass shoes. I mean, come oooooon. They're canary yellow, they're hairy, and I had just enough credit at Beacon's to make them technically free. Funnily enough I think they're by a Japanese brand? Also:
They make me approximately one billion feet tall (which in my case actually means just, like, normal amounts of tallness.)
Thanks, Noah, for the amazing YouTube Karaoke Party (and these photos!), and sorry about the confetti--it was the smallest bag they had I swear!! I think I drank most of it by the end of the night anyways... karma's a bitch eheh.
First Alexa, then this dude...I still want to DIY myself a version of this Phillip Lim button up. I actually ordered myself a bunch of conical studs a few months ago in an uncharacteristic fit of motivation, only to find they were too large and looked way too much like rows of silver nipples. Anyways, I think maybe I'm feelin' gold a little more now, à la these gloves?
Apartamento is one of those magazines my boyfriend and I are always almost buying, but at the last minute balking at the $20.00 price tag. I mean, I know it's good, but I always have a hard time convincing myself it's that good.
Apparently, however I seem to have overlooked the fact that there is a story in the current issue featuring Chloë Sevigny, possibly in her own apartment right here in New York City? That's not just good...that's muy bueno!!
I know I know, it's bad enough that I have to ruin just about every magazine in existence for myself by skulking around the internet, obsessively seeking out scans...I shouldn't try and take you all down with me! Which is why I swear I'm not going to go crazy posting scans from the newest Lula (besides, you're perfectly capable of ruining it for yourselves I'm sure!)
But I had to post just a few from this editorial, my absolute favorite that I've seen so far (and they're all GOOD, no joke. I feel like this might be the best issue since the one guest edited by Kirsten Dunst.) It all feels very William Eggleston to me. Loooove.
But that's all...for now. Aaaah, god I'm sick. Go on without me!! Save yourselveeeeeesss...
Ooooh, I thought I was being so sneaky when I dug this shirt out of my boyfriend's dresser this morning. He never even wears it! And what's it doing all balled up in this drawer and not hanging up with the rest of his button-ups?? Clearly, it was absolutely begging to be rescued. And by rescued, I mean blatantly, shamelessly stolen.
Turns out, this beaut actually belongs to his lovely lady housemate Amy. Hey, these things happen when five people spend the summer living together in a dark, cozy basement apartment. I'll be returning the shirt tomorrow, but what a day we had! Anyways, it's ok. I got my favorite boots fixed AND they've stopped giving me blisters. And besides, Alex has got a whole closet full of other shirts just waiting to be, er...rescued.
How did I finally stumble across this site for the first time only a few nights ago?? I spent hours going through their old streetstyle and blog posts, and I think it's safe to say I'm in love... (All images from Turnedout.tv)
Somehow, I sort of missed out on the whole Grizzly Bear craze. Maybe it's the rock I've been living under for the past several months, or all that sand I've had my head buried in recently? Really gotta knock that off...I mean, yeah I heard they slayed at SxSW etc etc, but I guess I just sort of brushed them off as having a cool name that I wish I had cornered first.
Which is why I feel a little stupid admitting how obsessed I am with this song/video. Because it's totally amazing, right? Yeeeeeah, ok, I get it now guys...
On Sunday, some lady friends and I went to brunch for (sob!) the last time at Little D Eatery in Park Slope. It says they're closed for vacation, but this is a lie--they're closed for good! No more pork butt hash (trust me, it's a little slice of butt hash heaven.)
So, now we are on the search for another great brunch spot located in a charming neighborhood where we know at least five members of the staff who will bring us tasty freebies and undercharge us for afore mentioned hash. Is that too much to ask?
What did I find on Sunday? Hahaha, oh man, get this: I found f**king RUSSH! In the Barnes & Noble in Park Slope of all places (it seems sooo out of place in that mom and pop hood.) I didn't know whether to be jubilant or enraged--they had tons of 'em! Fortunately, it wasn't the latest issue which dear sweet Hannah sent me, but the previous one, so now I haven't missed a beat.
And even better, what should I discover upon perusing it but a full two page spread on Girls, the band I will simply not shut up about. I'll scan and post it later tonight!
Basically, the sole purpose of this post is to gloat over the great things I found this weekend. Not that I have any business going shopping, especially this late in the month...
Unfortunately, whenever I get stressed, or sad, or worried, or all of the above (check, check and check), all I want to do is go thrift shopping! Everything about it calms me, even the smell of mothballs and stale cigarette smoke.
And even more unfortunately, since I moved to New York, "thrift shopping" has turned into "oh I'll just pop into Beacon's and see what's new..." Beacon's Closet is NOT a thrift store. Neither is Buffalo Exchange. Or Atlantis Attic. These are some facts over which I am firmly in denial.
Ah but to hell with it, look what I found! The most beautiful sheer pink blouse, and a little brownish skirt (hey, I NEEDED skirts), and an old pair of Hush Puppies heels. And there's more (just a LITTLE more I swear), that will be popping up in the future no doubt.
Anyways, in penance, I've been updating my etsy with some pretty choice goods. There was another lighter pink blouse like this one that I almost snapped up for the shop, though at the moment I'm trying not to consciously "spend money to make money," but perhaps I'll go back in a day or two and see if it's still there? I'm sure some lovely girl could find a place for it in her closet.
