In an effort to raise a bit of dough towards a little trip Alex and I are planning soon, I finally got around to updating my Etsy shop, Maude Loves Harold Vintage! I hope to list a few more things this coming week as well, so if you don't see anything that strikes your fancy, be sure to check back :n )

P.S. A big thanks to Hannah and Francesca who already snapped up a couple things!

RINGO X THE LOVED ONE

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon doing a bit of modeling for The Loved One. Hanging out with Hannah is always a treat, plus I got a sorely needed dose of kitten love! As an added bonus, I think this might finally have kicked my ass in to gear to list a few things in my own neglected etsy shop. In fact, I just picked up a couple very Spring-y things today that I hope to list this weekend (hint: fans of ducks and flowers, rejoice!)

SPRING AHEAD

Spring Fabrics

Three pieces I look forward with much anticipation to wearing once the weather is steadily above the 60 degree mark: a worn-in, semi-sheer cotton blouse in the most obnoxiously pastel poppy print, my Leah Goren Kitty Cat Tee, and the American Apparel mid length pocket top I have wanted since I tried it on last August (and now need in every color, I'm afraid.)

Other things I am looking forward to: getting paid tomorrow (fingers crossed) and immediately buying the biggest bunch of tulips I can lay hands on; trying, and perhaps succeeding, to track down a copy of this book; dying pysanky eggs and finding some flowering branches to hang them from; four words: Cadbury Creme Egg Cupcakes.

And you? Tell me something you're excited for.

Even though I'm too broke to buy, I'm totally in love with the styling of Tarantula Sisters on Etsy. So simple and cute and a little bit off, just the way I like it...plus, their model is adorable, and reminds me so much of Miss Zippora Seven, always a favorite.

The last few weeks I've been quietly scurrying around, trying to get my latest venture off the ground. Finally, this morning, I'm proud to introduce you all to my new etsy store: Arbor Vitae Vintage. I've partnered up with an out-of-town pal to bring you guys some pretty sweet vintage goodies, including-but-not-limited-to super cozy sweaters (and ponchos, just wait for the ponchos!), warm winter hats, soft blouses and a few surprise odds and ends.

I'll be adding more items to the shop in the next few days, and I hope to be able to update fairly regularly from then on, so don't be a stranger!

GIVEAWAY: LITTLE PRINT HOUSE

littleprintil_fullxfull.196332948

My very favorite way to introduce a new partner around these parts is to offer you guys a giveaway--and fortunately, the folks behind Little Print House were happy to oblige! Hailing from Portland, OR, Kelly and Greg recently opened their Etsy shop and stocked it full of gorgeous prints celebrating things near and dear to their hearts (and mine too!), including but not limited to: bicycling, cats, and the natural wonders of the Northwestern Coast. Now, they'd like to offer one lucky duck the opportunity to take home one of the prints shown above.

In order to win Old Time Bottles, Maple Tree Glow, or Big Sur Vista, all you have to do is take a look at Little Print House on Etsy and leave a comment here telling us which of their many fine prints is your favorite and why. Please make sure that you leave your email if it's not available on your profile. The contest will remain open until after midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. Best of luck to all!

P.S. Kelly and Greg would also like to offer all my readers 15% off their order during the giveaway. Just enter code ringo15 at checkout!

the bold and the beautiful

ToBoldlyFold1

For me, autumn has always felt like an especially contemplative season. Something about the combination of spending more time inside staring longingly out windows, the necessity of putting a bit of thought into layering up clothing in the morning for a change, rain storms, endless pots of tea, the kind of things that make you want to just plant yourself in some corner of a warm cafe and doodle away an afternoon.

When Melissa from To Boldly Fold approached me about doing a giveaway, I thought that this would be the perfect time of year for such a prize: a gorgeous, handbound, softcover leather journal, fastened with a button made from a beachstone found on the Cape Cod shore. At 6.5" x 5" x 3/4", it's the perfect size for slipping into a beat up old back pack or satchel, or even a nice deep coat pocket.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment describing your favorite spot to draw/write/journal/compose dirty limericks. For example, mine is a tie between my old room at home, preferably with a big cup of Vanilla Rooibos and a cat lying on my feet, and the Coney Island bound Q train. The contest will be open until Sunday evening. Please be sure that if your email isn't available on your profile you leave me that as well.

Check out the To Boldly Fold Etsy shop for more goodies, and best of luck one and all!

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED! (Thanks so much for all the amazing entries, everyone!!)

Update: There were just WAY too many great stories to choose from, so in the end I used the number generator at random.org to pick...comment #32! Congratulations Viv!! Your journal will be on its way to you shortly. Since after a week Viv is still MIA, I've made the executive decision to move on and choose a new number. Congrats #49, Alice of The Brimborion! Thanks again to all who participated, and I promise you can look forward to more giveaways in the future.

It is LATE, and I have to be awake again in less than five hours...but before I drift off to dreamland, I felt it was my civic duty to inform you all of the out-of-control adorability that is is the Morton Salt sweater from Pistenine Vintage. I mean...HOLY HELL, am I right??? If this isn't sold by the time I wake up, I'm afraid there really is no hope for humanity...

This morning, I'd like to introduce you guys to another one of my kind sponsors:

PISTENINE VINTAGE AND SECONDHAND

I've actually been a fan of this
shop for quite some time now, after stumbling across it on some late-night sugar-high-induced shoe hunt (no doubt.) What caught my attention was the mix of off-beat, totally adorable stock and incredibly reasonable prices--and not just "Etsy reasonable" but, like real life reasonable! I kind of felt like I had come across my own semi-private online thrift store and now, well, I guess I'm sharing my "secret" with you all!

For her latest update, I sent Susie a list (and...ok, made a polyvore set!) of some of my favorite summer essentials, and she in turn took my recommendations to heart when shopping around for her newest stock. Above are just a few of the amazing pieces she tracked down, all available for sale in her shop. Check it!!

hot times call for simple outfits

leopardandbleach4

Truth be told, this is not what I wore today, or even yesterday (for that you're gonna need to tune into Turned Out next week!), this is from thursday, since today was way too hot and muggy to give a rat's ass what I looked like. Seriously, I think I sweated half my face off. The weather here is making me miss the West Coast like mad, because even though I hear that summer is only just starting to rear its head over there, you guys know that once it finally settles in, it's gonna be gooooood.

leopardandbleach3

My new flats from Pop Fizz Vintage, with cute lil' roses on the toes. Aaaaw! I've been sans a pair of black flats for way too long, you can't imagine how frustrating it is when the only pair of comfortable, flat, closed toe shoes in your closet are bright green (or maybe you can?? In which case, I pity both us fools!)

Spotted (ha, literally!!): a pair of mighty Alexander Wang-ish leopard print pumps, from Luxe de Ville on Etsy. Woulda snapped these up in a second if a) I had the dough and b) I thought I could cram my feet into them. Size 6.5's, rejoice!

...Kelly of Girl With. Congrats Kelly, your skirt from bOmode should be on its way in no time!

Although I did end up using a random number generator to choose her entry, I loved her outfit description that I decided to make a little polyvore mock-up of it! Kelly choose the Vintage Raffia Woven Tote, and then wrote:

"Peppermint colours! It fits the weather as it's getting hotter. I'd wear it with khaki linen shorts, a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a pair of Hasbeens, turquoise bangles, and red lipstick!"

Above is my (slightly embellished) version. Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway!! I'd like to continue to bring you fun, painless ways to win pretty free things--if any shops are ever interested, feel free to drop me a line :n )
