Ok, I admit, this is totally dumb BUT--one of my favorite things about the changing of the seasons is an excuse to buy new nail polish. Hey I mean, there's certainly bigger seasonal splurges I could (and, possibly, should) be making...
My collection is in a pretty sorry state at the moment, and I just know that all those robin's eggs and corals and delicate peaches of summer wont seem right under a cloudy October sky. As much as I'd love to outfit myself in some Khakis, odds are that ain't happening! So I'm looking instead to the Essie Fall collection. My favorite, hands down (ha!) is Little Brown dress, above. So rich! So moist! So choclatey. Eheheh. Mmmmm, lacquer.....P.S. I made those brownies for my bf's birthday this year and they are the BEST. Ever. Put them in the fridge over night and they taste like fudge the next morning. (Just don't over beat, don't overbake, and good gawd DON'T bother with that stupid frosting...)(first photo via Polish or Perish)
For anyone wondering which lipstick I ended up buying for New Years, I went with Sephora Brand in It Girl. It's matte and quite intense on! My first choice was NARS Heat Wave, but the Sephora was half the price, and almost as nice. Also, this American Apparel nail polish, a gift from Jacky, was everything I hoped for and more. Definitely my new favorite color, and it stayed put quite well, though I would recommend some sort of protective topcoat for extra longevity.
As a belated Christmas present to myself, I'm thinking of buying a nice red lipstick to wear on New Year's Eve, a bright orange-red, ala Chloë up there. Maybe a little fancier than drugstore brand, but nothing too crazy (Sephora here I come!) Any suggestions??
I don't think I will ever get tired of buying nail polish. It's silly, I know, a waste of money, no question. But even though I have a whole sack of shiny little bottles in my bathroom cabinet, I just can't be stopped. I love the way they look all lined up on a drugstore shelf; I feel the same way looking at tubes of paint or fresh, unsharpened colored pencils.
Even though working at American Apparel may have kind of killed the company for me, I am SO DOWN with this new nailpolish line they've got going on. I can't speak to the quality since I've yet to actually sample it, but the colors are amazing, seriously, I'm flipping out. And from what I can tell they are solid, none of that shimmer crap (well ok there might be some in that last one, too soon to tell)!! So so into that whole top row.

My immediate favorites are Office and Palm Springs, above, but seeing as they come 3 for $15, I might have to add Rose Bowl to the mix.
