Fake Christmas List, part II

My fake Christmas list, continued. Part I is here.

a)

It's really hard for me to settle on just one style of Swedish Hasbeens to wish for...but at the moment, these are exactly what I need to be clomping around in, paired with thick black tights and something short and flowy.

I still don't own the Criterion Edition of this movie, one of my all time faves...but it'd be a lot cooler if I did!

c)
70s style

Clearly, my decade of choice. This book looks amazing.

Even though I would just fill it with painfully inane things like grocery lists and notes from magazines I'm too broke to buy, an unlined, pocket size, glossy red Moleskine is truly a thing of beauty.

Last year, my sister bought me the most beautiful teapot from Roost. It's incredibly delicate, and the fact that I have made it almost a full year without smashing it gives me confidence that I could own something as precious as this Jonathan Adler whale pitcher. I've been a bit obsessed with it ever since I saw the butter dish in Domino ages ago. And there's a shoe too!

I'd love to know: what's the best/nicest/prettiest thing someone's ever given you for Christmas?

Truth be told, I don't like how I look in braids. Well really, I just don't like wearing my hair back at all. But I think braids themselves are so gorgeous, and I'm always envious of girls who look great in them, the big, messy, perfectly casual kind, like Caroline up there.

braided bangs

The closest I ever get is braiding my bangs every once in a while, but mostly just when I'm at home and they're bugging me. I look a little bit like a cockapoo when I finally take them down though.

apartamento

Apartamento is one of those magazines my boyfriend and I are always almost buying, but at the last minute balking at the $20.00 price tag. I mean, I know it's good, but I always have a hard time convincing myself it's that good.

Apparently, however I seem to have overlooked the fact that there is a story in the current issue featuring Chloë Sevigny, possibly in her own apartment right here in New York City? That's not just good...that's muy bueno!!

I feel like I've wanted one of Arielle de Pinto's amazing crocheted metal pieces for as long as can remember (which, apparently, is only as far back as 2007, since that's how long her line's been around...) The lookbook for her 2010 collection is totally rad, and incidentally makes me miss both California and having a proper, knock-about summer vacation.

You can read more over on the FADER, and be sure to check out her collaboration with Anntian, which is all kinds of mixed-media coolness.

Don't get me wrong--being me is pretty all right. But every once in a while I'll come across a photo of someone that makes me pause and think "man, I'd like to try that out for a day or two." There's just something about these girls, their hair, their smiles, the tilt of their heads, that has me wishing I could take a spin around the block in their shoes.

Actually, come to think of it, just the shoes would suffice ;n )
