balmoral

Speaking of winter-time color: I just love this photo of Diana and Charles at Balmoral. Although, haha, apparently it was taken on May 6th (by Tim Graham). Nonetheless, I do love her sweater. It looks a bit faded here, but in other views you can see it was a rather shocking pink! I wonder where she got it, and why it is she chose to wear it to this particular photocall. Anyways, I'm totally digging this whole outfit, really.

P.S. I still have a copy of the Elton John "Candle in the Wind" single...on cassette! Those were truly sad times for a thirteen year old Anglophile. (Edit: Ok ok, I do know it's still quite cold in May in the UK--I was a teen Anglophile once, remember!)

Oh yes! I had a collection of relics from that time in my hope chest until my cat peed on them. I still have the Charles and Diana paper dolls though!

(I also sent harry a locket - he never responded.)

True enough, Amy, true enough!

Hannah, I had saved all sorts of newspaper clippings and TIME magazine pieces and whatnot but one of our cats totally pooed on them! The cassette escaped magically unscathed. Little fuckers.

You have heard about Wills and Kate, right? It's all the press here seem able to think about...

They look so happy!!!

My dad got so pissed at me for being into the wedding. He hates the Royal Family. I was like "BUT SHE'S A PRINCESSSSSSS!"

I used to have a huge Diana/William/Harry scrapbook. When I went to England for the first time as a wide-eyed preteen I actually took rocks off of the ground from Eton College (where William went to school)!

I love Princess Diana! What a style icon. And I love that we are able to appreciate her style again now that our current style has so much influence from the 1980's and 1990's. Great find!

It'll be almost as cold in May as it is now in the UK! Lady Di has the right idea.I love that jumper.

They look like a happy couple... that has never met! looks almost cruel to put them in the same photo. But on the other hand, outfit is supercool.

Yeah its fairly cold here in May still, I imagine if it was the middle of winter she'd be in a massive coat! I love the pop of colour against the tweed of the breeches and those red socks! She makes turtlenecks and flicked hair look cool.

I was about 11 at the time of her death but dad has a stack of magazines in his filing cabinet dedicated to her, haha.
