teddy girls in hot weather

picnikfile_RzPFHt

Pheeew. I'm starting to feel like all I do these days is sweat and scoop cat poo (pet sitting is not a particularly glam occupation...) Thankfully, starting the 20th I'll be escaping for four weeks to my island homeland in Washington!! It's high time for a seaside retreat, and these gorgeous photos by Liz Ham for Oyster Magazine have got me dreaming about worn-in denim, stripes, flats, and maybe a bit of red lip (though I'll just end up having to reapply after that ginormous ice cream cone I've got my mind's eye on...) So of course, I made a polyvore set to go with!

Ok, so: all I need to do now is find someone willing to pay me for dicking around on polyvore all day, and I'll be set for life!

Wow, they really nailed the hair. Love how they didnt make the front girl's too bardot or classic sexy.

Aw man, Camille, can we trade lives, just for a few hours? Or at least before you finish that ice cream???

Ebay is good for striped shirts that are of excellent quality and perfect slightly over-sized fit. Vintage Russian Sailor's Shirts! My boyfriend and I both bought one - he bought one and when I saw the quality I needed one, too. This seller has them cheap:

Anyway, they shrink a LOT when you put them in the dryer for the first time. So, if you get a large, it shrinks to the best fit after washing and drying. I think they are as nice as St. James. I think the shape is perfection. And the cotton is super heavy. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know since I know you love nautical stripes!

Sure! As long as I can eat one of those sandwiches you wrote about a few weeks ago! (oh, and I thought I'd let you know, I saw that the clogs were on sale at Urban Outfitters for 39,99$ CDN, so cheaper in the US!)

Sarah: holy crap that rules!!! I actually had what must have been a vintage Russian (sailor?) striped sweatshirt that I found back home this winter, it was kind of like that one only that kind of sweatshirt material that's a bit heavier and fuzzy inside, you know? But. like an ass, I ended up selling it. These are way nicer though, and cheap! Yes!

Camille: Ok deal! And wait, which clogs?? Was it in an actual store? All the ones online are still normal priced, dang it :n (

I tried that velvet lip pencil in Cruella and you may not need to reapply, it's very stain-y and very matte.
The weather here in mainland Washington is so dreary today (especially after brief heat wave last week), but I'm sure it will warm up in a couple of days.

I love teddy girl style! I especially liked that teddy girl fashion spread Bust Magazine did a few years back.
