satchel up

itemized

On the one hand, I feel like the recent craze for everything Navajo-print might be getting a little bit out of control. On the other hand, I don't give a whooping funt 'cuz I still think it's hot shit. Accordingly, I just wrote a little love letter to this Penfield masterpiece over on the FADER blog.

P.S. That's me above, in the flesh, in the FADER office! I feel like it's been far too long since I showed my face around here...guess this is the closest we're gonna get for now. Many thanks to John Francis Peters for the excellent photo.

i just came home from work to post about the navajo-print shirt i got snaps of myself in earlier today, only to see that two of my favorite bloggers have already taken care of that specific realm of awesome. scratched!

i'm personally obsessed with the wool backpacks someone on FADER posted about a while back. good god, those things...

why don't you just buy pendleton?
OR better yet,
items from navajo people,
not just appropriated "tribal designs".

Anon, I would love to buy Pendleton. Or items from Navajo people. I really don't see what difference it makes. Are we really oppressing Native Americans by wearing "knockoff" Navajo print? I personally find that hard to believe.

It's not like we're putting on war paint and letting out war whoops in the street, we're talking about a pretty bag made by a company founded in 1975. If anything, I'd think you'd want to steer clear of Pendleton? Aren't they the ones who "stole" this print fro the Indians in the first place?

oh, your demands will likely be met sometime during this, the weekend of the oral surgery-induced pain killer haze. i hope i can still rite good by then.

and i now have the desire in my heart to cry out in the streets, war paint and all, the next time i wear anything with navajo print. so thank you, siri, and thank you, anonymous.
