home movies

Finally, here's the little movie I shot while I was back home this summer in the San Juans. I set it to "Curls" by Girls, a simple, beautiful song.

I wish I could show you all how good this looks on actual film sent through a projector. I lost about 95% of the colors and clarity as a result of the transfer from Super8 to digital, since I could only afford the cheapest method...but heck, you get the idea anyways! Regardless, it was a fun experiment, and now I know my camera works, which was the real goal. Everything else is just gravy, baby.

Happy weekend!!

This is sooooo beautiful! Even without 95% of the colors and clarity. All the shots are just gorgeous and set the mood perfectly. You really have a great eye for this sort of thing. :)

aww i watched this off alex's tumblr without reading the description and was after a minute was like hey wait, WOWIE ZOWIE! your shadow off the back of that truck is perfection, siri. <3<3<3

i, on the other hand, just realized what imovie is on my computer and all the fun, cheesy stuff it does so get ready for some craptasmic footage within the next month. this is what happens to a person who hasn't taken a single art class since the 8th grade.

oh my gosh, that was beautiful! It kind of made me feel like crying, in a happy way. It had such a wonderfully nostalgic feel. My favorite shot was definitely the sun coming through the trees, but I also really liked the shot of someone fishing, the feet, and just everything. Good song choice as well.

Gorgeous, I think losing some of the colour and clarity suited the theme of your movie perfectly... love the song too, thanks for the intro

my boyfriend and i bought a super 8 camera in scotland this past year at a charity shop. it looks like it's in perfect shape, but there must be something wrong, cause it doesn't work! but, i want to get it checked out. it would be so lovely to make one!

I did want to ask? You said the accompanying track was "curls" by a band called Girls? I tried to google them but didn't find anything. Do you have any hints where I can find their stuff, because that song is completely dreamy. xx

Just watched it, so beautiful! Really makes me want to experiment more with non-digital film, even if it does cost a bunch... because it looks so special that way, there's no denying it.
