And speaking of fashion threats...

It seems like every year, when faced with the inevitable challenge of finding the most comfortable, versatile, yet stylish (but of course) sandals for the approaching summertime, I say "all right, this time around I'm just gonna buy a pair of Saltwater Sandals and call it a day." I mean, I can't tell you how many friends have reccommended them to me.

"They're so comfortable!"
"They last really well!"
"They conform to the shape of your foot like maaagic!"

And yet somehow, every year, the poor little dependable fellows get pushed into the back of my mind while on the hunt for something more exotic, more complicated, more...fringed?

However...

...I think seeing calivintage rockin' a pair like nobody's business over on Chictopia has finally cemented the deal.

I'm thinking basic black to start with (at around $35 a pop, even I can actually afford to dream about owning more than one pair!), but, ooh they come in red...and yellow...and floral...and....ok ok, wait a minute, one threat at a time!

Yes, get them!!! I'm always tempted to but then I get scared by the photos of the sandals and how wide they look. But then I see photos of girls wearing them (like calivintage!) and they look amazing!

I grew up in saltwaters! Every year my parents would buy them for me and my sisters because they'd last the whole year, and we even wore our old ones after we got news ones becuase they were still in good condition. and yes they are the most comfortable sandal ever. They're actually very flattering once you put them on. I highly recommend them, because I've been wearing them for 17 years.

Blessya, child. You've solved a problem for me that I totally forgot I had! I got worried like a month ago because last year's favorites broke down promptly at the end of august and I hadn't yet found a new pair of trusty sandals. Then I forgot, and you just reminded me but in a nice 'here's the solution' kind of way.

Merci and have great fun in Pittsburgh!

They're classic and completely worth the money.

I'm also a fan of canvas shoes from K-mart for the summer. At $3-6 a pop, they last a season and I don't cry about throwing them out.

i got a pair in red last summer and let me tell you, i cannot wait for the days when they'll be the only things i put on my feet (when i'm not frolicking barefoot, obviously).

dude, i am 100% in favor. PLUS, you have long legs, so flat sandals with a high-ish ankle strap dont dwarf your calves (i guess you could say i'm speaking from experience).
enjoy pittsburgh!

They are identical to a vintage pair I found and after one trip to the cobbler and another tear they are forced into retirement. Thanks for sharing, totally investing!
