There's a bit of a fuss over it looking too "Antebellum South" or some jazz (looks more fifties-inspired to me, but whut do I know, right?) I, for one, am just flippin' excited.

Awesome! I was wondering when it would be out. Someone in the UK is selling all the back issues on ebay, but they are already way expensive.
I really like this pic. I don't think it looks antebellum at all though, I'm really getting a 40s vibe.
I'll say the same thing I said at the fashion spot (I'm edithandbob):I love lula, but I'm so happy to see them feature someone who isn't the super pale frail little girl that they usually feature.

i think its amazing that its a black model. like im really really excited. it gets disheartening to not have your image in magazines that are so inspirational. and anyone who thinks its antebellum south is over thinking it and cynical and needs to look at the strides that african americans are making in the fashion industry. Im gonna have to find an issue!

The sentimentality and nostalgia of the cover is gorgeous ... I don't quite understand why so many people on the TFS thread are feeling "uncomfortable"? Fifties housewives references: so what?
I find it strange that people would make such accusations since the 40s/50s are referenced time and time again in fashion. And furthermore, I don't feel as though most people look at a spread featuring a Caucasian female in that sort-of dress as ""pre-women's liberation.". Fashion is always going to hold a place in history, but reinterpreting pieces with a vintage does not mean you are placing yourself or the model back in the context of the garment. Should Chanel Iman be kept out of vintage clothing because she is African-American? I really don't think wearing a fascinator with netting somehow suggests the photographer/stylist is ignorant of or in agreement with historical practices we now deem unjust.
Oh and I am SO excited for Lula!

i can't wait to get this issue of LULA and personnaly i love the cover especially the colors . i'm in love with vintage clothing too and as a black women i'm glad to ses a black model wearing vintage clothes on thé cover of a great magazine like that

I love it all, and Chanel is so beautiful, apart from the pose. I think it's the face she is pulling that kinda makes it look a bit odd. But I still can't wait for this issue!
