Back in the City, more than a little begrudgingly, and preparing to be greeted by a hurricane.
My best friend, pictured above in sunnier, sea-going, island summer times, is coming to visit in October. I'm excited to take her to dinner for her birthday, to feed her a bahn mi sandwich, to spend Halloween together for the first time in five years and, selfishly, to have something to look forward to before my next escape West in January.

Hahaha! Dag looks so happy. We haven't done hardly any boating this summer and I wish I was boating right now. Our friends have a boat too called The Tern.
Ha, she was! Watermelon, silk lounge robe, wind in her Heidi braids...
The boat actually came with the name, which is a fine name but a little impersonal (especially since we didn't own the first Tern), but my parents told me it's bad luck to rename a boat. They're probably right.
still waiting for san francisco to produce a summer. your friend is so content and carefree, i need a turn on the tern.
The watermelon looks tasty! Hope you have a great time with your friend
All the best thing about summer here. Stay safe people.
