DIP ME IN THE WATER

this is it

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I never understood how anyone could profess to "hate summer" until I moved to New York. Brooklyn is baking. There's no other word for it. I'm lucky in that I've been primarily in either an air conditioned office building or a cool, cave-like basement apartment for the last few days, but the train trips in between, walking the dog I'm looking after, going to the corner to restock on watermelon and down the street for groceries? Hellish. Hell-esque.

All I can think about right now is water. Cool, crisp, sparkling water from the sea. Looking at the top photo, I can actually feel the shock of dipping my feet in that icy northwest current, the numbness as it slowly sets in, and finally my toes like little ice cubes when I pull them back out and rest them on the hot rock beneath me. I crave it, I need it. I've dreamed about it for the last week, at night and in the day. GET ME OUTTA HERE.

i am so sorry girl! i feel your pain! LA gets so hot and it won't rain for months so the air is so gross and all i want to do is be in clean air and water of any kind. going to the movies saves my life sometimes. or getting the hell out of there! ;) i hope you find some sweet relief! did you take these photos? i love them all!

I'm lucky that the (very small) city I live in now is only 6 miles from the coast, we get a nice breeze. And I work in the middle of the English countryside. But when I lived in a much bigger, central city (a year ago) summer was AWFUL. Now, I have beautiful fields, lots of parks in the middle of town and the seaside to escape to. However, I work in Paris a lot and summer there is so painful :/ My office is in a suburb overlooking the whole city and you can SEE the heat coming of Sacre Coeur from my window!!

It's called summer here in holland too, only thing is... it's cold, rainy and gloom. Although I'd more than happily like to swap for a week, I also feel your pain as I can barely stand heat myself... :')

life is happy: Yep, I took all these photos over the last few years while visiting home in the San Juan Islands :n )

tamsin: The only time I ever got to visit Paris was in the middle of July during a record heat wave! We were only there for a couple days, but it was hellishly exhausting (aaaand my wallet was stolen, but that's another story...)

I keep hearing about how dreary the summer over in Europe has been thus far...why can't we just both meet somewhere in the middle??!
