girl stuff

a)
ysl parisienne

Perfumes are problematic. I only really like the ones that smell like actual things, not just that gross, fake, "perfume-y" smell. Stella McCartney smells like roses, Marc Jacobs smells like tuberose, and now I'm trying YSL Parisienne on for size (courtesy of a free sample from Sephora.) It smells like blackberries and damask roses, a little sugary but I think it's growing on me. The 1 oz. size is adorable and, for once, not wildly out of my price range--just mildly.

b)
eberjey

Finding pretty, classy, affordable, underwire-free brasseries has become something of a lifelong mission on my part. I don't understand why it's so hard to find such a thing, and why ladies with big boobs middle-of-the-road boobs should have all the frilly, lacey fun. Which is why I'm completely obsessed with Eberjey's Delirious Bralet. And it comes in A BAZILLION FREAKIN' COLORS, omg you guys, it's a tittay raaaaiiinnnbbbbooowwww!!

c)
here today...aragon tomorrow

On one of my first days at FADER I accompanied my boss to a downtown showroom where, as part of the festivities, they were providing free manicures from OPI's new España line. Rough stuff, I know. Anyways, she chose a gorgeous dark green, almost black number called "Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow" (ah the puns! They buuurn!!) while I went with some stupid pinkish purple junk. You might say I was...green with envy???

d)
revlon pink pout
(photo from venn. on flickr)

If there's one thing I despise in cosmetics, it's that awful, frosty shimmer that sneaks into so many nail polishes and lipsticks. I want my colors pure, straightforward, unadulterated. I also want them at drugstore prices. Which is why I'm so stoked on the Revlon Matte collection. I already have Pink Pout, pictured, but I also really want the nude shade and maybe even a red?? It's no NARS Roman Holiday, but it ain't half bad either.

argh totally agree about the bras- why does everything have to have underwire if I don't need it?? I resort to buying mulitples whenever I find cute ones sans-wire and padding.

Also, I have the revlon matte red lipstick, and its a dream!

Bras are so impossible! As a larger busted lady I find bras with enough support impossible to find, and it's very disheartening to discover smaller busted women also can't find bras for them. Who exactly do the manufacturers think they're making them for then?!

Love that bra. I'm all for Revlon matte lipstick as well.About "Parisienne" don't hate it, don't love it either.

I don't know that the perfect bra for anyone exists anywhere. I'm a busty lady and all I can ever seem to find are bras with three extra inches of foam padding. WHY WOULD I WANT THAT? I nearly spit out my coffee at 'titay rainbow' by the way. And I am crushing on that dark green nail polish. Maybe sometimes I choose the color of my manicure based on the silly name of the color. Turn of the cent-cherry, anyone?

victoria's secret makes a great one in their lacie collection for 18$. it comes in 6 colours. it's so pretty, and comfortable.

plus, i'm with you on the drk green polish it is my favourite shade to wear.

oh, i totally agree with the shimmer! i hate it in every single eye shadow. i've been trying to wear more make-up, and the shimmer just turns me off...

i've been dying over this dark green polish since i first laid eyes on it at the drugstore, though i'm kinda scared it's going to make my vein-y hands look more like frankestein's monster...

oh and by the way YOU ARE A SAINT. where were those boots yesterday when i was searching? am i really that bad at internets? they're so perfect- oooh i hope i win them...<3<3<3

Harriet & Niki: you're absolutely right! I have two very dear friends who have chests on the large side of the spectrum and they also have a hard time finding what they want. What I want to know is who the FUCK is actually making these things?? My suspicion...a lot of dudes? It seems to me that the majority of nice bras are designed for people who are approximately a 34B. Middle of the road boobs. If you've got 'em, more power to ya! But if not, it really blows. I just wish there were more niche lines for folks like us.

Ohh I hate the bra issue aswell. I am a big busted girl and I need under underwired ones, but it is sooo hard to get them for a good price and even harder getting them in a cute good look. But I noticed that getting bigger things in Germany is harder at all....

I've got pretty small boobs (quality, not quantity) and I really like those American Apparel lacey bras...

I love Parisienne too. I've been wearing it since it came out and its wonderful and yeah not ridiculous expensive.

am completely with you on the bra issue! SO hard to find this sort of thing is aus, I have resorted to the american ap ones too...dammit they don't ship out here :(

I actually never really went in for those AA ones, even when I worked there, though plenty of other girls I know who are around my size seem to like them. I always found them rather uncomfortable and kind of weirdly bulky in all the wrong places? Also they fall apart way too fast, unless maybe they've upped their quality control in the last few years. If I had a dollar for every wadded-up cross back bra with loose threads that someone tried in vain to return...

hi! new to your blog, and i love it! i completely flat chested and it is a total bitch trying to find bras that fit. express actually started making lingerie and they have some pretty nice soft cup underwire-less bras.

i've been wearing "here today, aragon tomorrow" for about a month now and don't plan on trying on new shades any time soon. it's absolutely amazing.

as for perfume that smells like actual things, i really like guerlain's aqua allegoria line. my favorite is herba fresca. smells like green things...mint and lemon and a hint of grass.

urrgh I hate it when I find a great shade of lipstick only to discover frosty, shimmery awfulness!
the same goes for jersey tops and dresses. All too often I get excited over a nice shade and style, only to discover that the front has been rolled around in diamante sparkles! wtf

ahahaha i love the puns. and I love that green colour its beautiful. sorry no puns from me.

aaand all there is for big(ger) chested ladies are thick straps and don't-ever-put-this-on-for-your-boyfriend designs. sad, sad world.

I second the AA ones... I think these are new (?)

tittay rainbow = genius, according to the boyfriend (and me!)

I couldn't agree more with most of your sentiments. Especially on the lipstick, the colour has to be BOLD, a straight forward statement, not these frothy, shimmery shades that we wore when we were 12 and rifling through our mums make up bag.

And the same goes for perfume! I know the 'perfume-y' smell you think of, far too well. Like lipstick it has to be distinct and of one definite scent. My scent of choice is Paul Smith 'Rose'. But by night I am a little musky, and wear Dior's 'Pure Poison'.

I have to say, being a lady with an average rack, i appreciate a good underwired bra, but it has to be pretty and lacy, but these are nigh hard to find! I despise padding with a passion, be proud of what you good! And it just moves about unnecessarily under ones clothes..

Great post!

Oooohhh I love Revlons Matte collection! I managed to pick out a couple but not without hesitation. Turns out they are really easy to pull off and I love how they do not scream "look at me im wearing lipstick"- I'm not good with loud things in general. <3 I say you try of the red!
