The Pains of Wearing Pretty Shoes

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

This is what I wore last night, first to a trunk show for the incredibly sweet Alison Lewis' eponymous line, Lewis, and later to the Pains show at the Bowery.

The Pains sounded absolutely amazing! The addition of a second guitar (in the form of Christoph from The Depreciation Guild) really takes their live performance to a whole new level. Anyone planning on seeing them in Europe (you lucky dogs!), you're in for a treat. They even played "Stay Alive"!

This is probably my most favorite dress that I own at the moment. It's little, vintage, and it has ruffles=the ultimate spring/summer dress trifecta. I love the shoes too, also a total vintage score, but I guess I forgot how long it's been since I did any significant amount of walking in heels. Wish I could stay in a nurse my blisters, but I've gotta run to class right now.

Bon Voyage, Pains!

I wish heels were more comfortable to wear or I'd be wearing them all the time! But therein lies the downfall of heels.

I love the scalloped trim of your cardigan! It's such a cute detail.

I want to go to a PoBPaH show. Lucky girl that you get to see them live AND are dating one of the band members!

Those heels are beautiful, but it sucks that they hurt your feet! My pain tolerance is about a zero, so I couldn't wear cute heels that hurt even if I tried!

That's so funny, you know Alison? I used to work with her but unfortunately missed her trunk show last night. Small world, big city.

It's so weird, usually these shoes are the most comfortable heels I've ever owned, they've never done me wrong before last night...ugh, I swear, feet and shoes can be so temperamental! What is it, air pressure? Humidity? Wind direction?? They're worse than my bangs...wait, no, nothing's worse than my bangs...

corrie: I hadn't actually met Alison before last night, but I'm writing an article about her for BUST and I wanted to check out her line in person. Everything was sooo pretty, and she is SO nice!

Lovely outfit. Yellow and blue always looks darling together. The vintage dress is adorable and looks so great on you. I hope your feet heal!

oh dont even start on bangs, girl. or that dress- aggh i want!! i love that you're situating yoself in the third photo. and that you're not too pose-y in general. but back to bangs, ohmygodiwillkillmine if they cause one more forehead zit. like, singe them to the root. i've had to bust out the hard stuff just to get by. oh yes, neutrogena.

Man I feel your paaaiiinnn. In the winter time I wear a hat a lot, and snug fitting hat + bangs = GROSSEST FOREHEAD IN THE HISTORY OF FOREHEADS. Mostly though I just don't understand why sometimes, all other things being apparently equal, they sometimes dry wonderfully straight, and other times they'll be point straight left...or straight up...or making awful curly wings at the sides. JUST FUCKING BEHAVE.
