It's (Not Quite) the End of the World as We Know It

It was a dark day yesterday, both figuratively (best friend saying goodbye at 5:30am and then disappearing into the night) and literally (when I next awoke I could not tell what time of night or day it might be, the sky was so dark and pouring rain...)

Eventually though, the clouds thinned, I rolled out of bed at about 4:30pm (spring breeeak, woo?), and proceeded to try and make the best of things. Once I got some jams going on my R2D2 tape player (no, that's not a purse, I just WISH) things didn't seem quite so apocalyptic anymore.

Added bonus, this blouse is covered in tiny little bow-ties! Definitely smile inducing.

It was three months since I last saw my bestie, and it'll be another three months till I see her, and my homeland, again. Not so bad, eh? After all, I've made it this far...

P.S. I just want to say thanks so much for all the sweet compliments concerning the general pleasing-ness of my blog that have been popping up in the comments lately. Y'all are too kind, and I absolutely promise to keep on keepin' it classy, just for you!

Is that R2D2 original? My friend had one, but he gave to the lead singer of Far as a gift. I was bummed.

It's even better that it's a tape player!! - I sure hope you carry that thing on the street (on your shoulder, of course), "pumping up the jams" for everyone to hear.

ohphilippa: They are actually an old pair of jeans from Banana Republic that I thrifted. They were originally boot cut, but I sewed them myself to be extremely skinny.

I have never, EVER found a brand new pair of jeans that fits me how I want--if they're skinny enough in the leg, they're way to small in the waist, and if they fit my hips, they're long and baggy in the legs. I've just given up and realized that the only way to get a pair of jeans the way I like them is to take matters into my own hands! It's actually relatively simple, if you have your own sewing machine that is (and mine is broken at the moment, unfortunately!)

angela: I'm honored to have been the one to get you hooked on Lula!

genevieve: Oh WHAT?? I will have to check that out immediately. Would it be too much to carry my r2d2 tape player in my r2d2 backpack?

haha, it would be epic!

You have me on the hunt for cute blouses...I never thought I would utter "cute" and "blouse" in the same sentence. Sigh. You rock my world.
