These are photos that I took of my friend Rowan when I was sixteen or seventeen. That was quite a few years ago, but somehow I feel like they sort of fit in with the dark, Gothic overtones that are currently so permeating the fashion world.

But really, they mostly just make me laugh. We were only kids, but we were sooo serious!

(Coincidentally, this is also the dress I wore to senior prom!)

its funny how we assume innocence cannot comprehend seriousness

One of my favorite things to do is look over my early portfolio as a photographer. I took those shoots so seriously! Although, they were so much fun.

Thanks guys! I also love looking at old photos I took back when I had so many young, beautiful friends, so many boxes of weird old clothes (ok that hasn't changed) and so much free time to spend making them dress up for me. It was so easy back then, "oh, just come over and we'll get all fancied up and I'll take a bunch of photos. Cool?" Cool. It all seems so much more complicated now.

woah these are quite dark and intense, but they look so professonal, i thought it was a real editorial!

krissy, jayne, thanks so much, that really means a lot to me! There was a time when I really wanted to be a photographer. But I guess eventually I got intimidated by the idea of going to art school and trying to succeed in such a competitive field. Anyways, it didn't happen. Now I just write about pictures, moving ones. It all sort of makes me sad, but then maybe someday I'll get the courage to give it a go.

I thought this was an editorial fashion spread! They are actually pretty good! haha

Before I read the text I thought you had posted a professional editorial! So epic man. Your friend is really good at not dying while wearing a sleeveless dress and standing in [what looks like] ice.

She's actually standing in a huge freshly dug pond. For some reason the water in it was a really strange milky white color. I think it had to do with the clay in which it had been dug. And fortunately it was a pretty warm summer's day! But I do credit most of the photos' success to Rowan herself. She's just really cool looking, she has killer bone structure, and she's really good at looking serious but not just bored/angry (unlike me and mah zombie face...)
