(click photo for details)Just another imaginary outfit, this time for New Years. Christmas has left me feeling so completely burnt out that all this week I've been constantly forgetting we've yet another damn holiday left to celebrate. I don't have a gorgeous Giambattista Valli number to step out in, but I did find a really pretty vintage dress in a sort of salmon pink that I'm awfully excited to wear. It was heavily discounted because of a few moth holes and a missing button, but predictably these conditions only make me love it that much more. I promise to convince someone with a decent camera to snap a photo before the Champagne kicks in.
I dearly wish that I could wake up tomorrow morning and find this as the view outside my window. Nothing reminds me of home at Christmastime like deep green fir trees dusted in powdered sugar snow--and there's nowhere I'd like to be so much tomorrow as home. This is the fourth year in a row I've spent the holidays on the opposite side of the country! And try as I might, it's never really, truly felt like Christmas in all those years.
But ok ok, I'll spare you my sob story and instead wish you all a Happy Christmas, Joyeux Noël, God jul and all that! And if you happen to be home for the holidays, enjoy it all the more for my sake??

December is one of those times of the year when I find myself simultaneously wishing for a few new things (it's suddenly so cold! All my clothes have been worn--and sweated in--to death through the summer and fall!) and painfully unable to follow through on even the most practical of my desires (new underwear will definitely have to wait until the New Year. OVERSHARE!) With Christmas shopping, sweet treats to be confected and fancy cheeses to be bought for housewarming parties, I've resorted on more than one occasion to counting out dimes and nickels for toilet paper and really exploring the (finite) possibilities of the humble lentil. Two nights ago, I broke down and selfishly sprang for a couple things that are currently in the post, on their way to my anxiously-awaiting arms (and feet.) Beautiful black leather Etienne Aigner loafers from Parkrose Vintage and the prettiest, oversize cotton blouse (which was actually paid for in trade from Pistenine, hallelujah!) I actually ordered that Phillip Lim bralette from the previous post as well using a giftcard, and it arrived lightning fast--which sadly means I can already tell you that it was much too small and will have to be returned, as it is now completely sold out. Hopefully I'll have more luck with the rest of my purchases, as I know I will cry salty tears should those loafers not fit my stubby stub feet.
(click photo for deets)Forget Miu Miu heels, Giuseppe Zanotti wedges, even Isabel Marant's brilliant boots: If I could choose just one pair of fancy, schmancy, embarrassingly expensive shoes to own, it would be a pair of two-tone, beige and black, cap toed Chanel flats. They are, quite simply, the dreamiest of dream shoes. Today, a wet and grey but surprisingly temperate day, this is what I'd choose to wear with them. Dream baby, dream.
I'm so, SO in love with this line of perfectly simple cashmere sweaters at La Garconne. The color palette is exquisite, immaculate--seeing them all together on the page like that just melts my heart! Soft neutrals plus navy and the two most perfect shades of green. All I would need to add is a splash of vermillion and a swipe of mustard a hint of Tenenbaum pink, and that, ladies and gents, would sum it right up. Charting my stars on the color wheel...
I get really emotionally about colors sometimes, it's silly, I admit. But also, as to the sweaters, I imagine that they are extremely warm, and deadly soft.
My very favorite way to introduce a new partner around these parts is to offer you guys a giveaway--and fortunately, the folks behind Little Print House were happy to oblige! Hailing from Portland, OR, Kelly and Greg recently opened their Etsy shop and stocked it full of gorgeous prints celebrating things near and dear to their hearts (and mine too!), including but not limited to: bicycling, cats, and the natural wonders of the Northwestern Coast. Now, they'd like to offer one lucky duck the opportunity to take home one of the prints shown above. In order to win Old Time Bottles, Maple Tree Glow, or Big Sur Vista, all you have to do is take a look at Little Print House on Etsy and leave a comment here telling us which of their many fine prints is your favorite and why. Please make sure that you leave your email if it's not available on your profile. The contest will remain open until after midnight Sunday night/Monday morning. Best of luck to all!P.S. Kelly and Greg would also like to offer all my readers 15% off their order during the giveaway. Just enter code ringo15 at checkout!
