leopard bag

After my last post about wanting something leopard print, I started seeing it absolutely everywhere--guess it had already slipped into my subconscious, cuz leopard is sooooo hawt for fall you guys! Har. Normally that would sort of put me off it a bit, but when I saw this bag at a vintage store yesterday I just couldn't leave it behind. The little gold leaf charm sealed the deal.

Also, I had totally forgotten all about these amazing old sexy lady playing cards my friend bought me a few months ago. A purrrrrfect match.

(Sorry.)

Maude Loves Harold

I'm currently battling both life-sucking heat and sense-sucking greediness, but I finally managed to get a few things up in my etsy, Maude Loves Harold Vintage. Somehow a lot of what I picked up seems to have been in a similarly soft color palette. I'll be making a few more colorful additions this week (if I don't melt first.)

Show off!

Basically, the sole purpose of this post is to gloat over the great things I found this weekend. Not that I have any business going shopping, especially this late in the month...

Unfortunately, whenever I get stressed, or sad, or worried, or all of the above (check, check and check), all I want to do is go thrift shopping! Everything about it calms me, even the smell of mothballs and stale cigarette smoke.

And even more unfortunately, since I moved to New York, "thrift shopping" has turned into "oh I'll just pop into Beacon's and see what's new..." Beacon's Closet is NOT a thrift store. Neither is Buffalo Exchange. Or Atlantis Attic. These are some facts over which I am firmly in denial.

Ah but to hell with it, look what I found! The most beautiful sheer pink blouse, and a little brownish skirt (hey, I NEEDED skirts), and an old pair of Hush Puppies heels. And there's more (just a LITTLE more I swear), that will be popping up in the future no doubt.

Anyways, in penance, I've been updating my etsy with some pretty choice goods. There was another lighter pink blouse like this one that I almost snapped up for the shop, though at the moment I'm trying not to consciously "spend money to make money," but perhaps I'll go back in a day or two and see if it's still there? I'm sure some lovely girl could find a place for it in her closet.

Etsy Shoe Showdown: Volume Spring Sandals

Spending the last couple of days in bed, on prescription drugs, gave me a lot of time to ponder. It also gave me a lot of time to go internet shopping. Most of all, it gave me plenty of time to ponder why I can't afford to be going internet shopping--for myself that is. So instead I went internet shopping FOR YOU!

Apparently, in some parts of the country, it's Spring. In these places, people's feets are crying out to be freed from their shackles. In an effort to fight foot cruelty everywhere, I combed the darkest corners of Etsy to provide you with a round-up of the best and the brightest vintage sandals currently for sale.

Category 1: That '70's Shoe

I don't know about you, but basically all I want to wear this summer are badass platforms and wedges. I blame Charles Anastase.

Turn on the Bright Lights

Okay okay, DESPITE my insistence that Spring has in fact sprung..it was pretty nasty today. Look you guys, Spring is having a hard time right now ok??? It ain't easy bein' a season!

Photobucket

In solidarity, I put on my brightest, most obnoxious blouse and...some pants? I know, I know, I don't believe it either. Desperate times indeed. I also couldn't help slipping on my new 70's platforms from pistenine on etsy, even if I know I'll have to change back into boots should I need to venture out anywhere further than my kitchen.

Photobucket

Oh god I love these! I feel like I've gone a bit shoe crazy lately, but I also feel like, after wearing essentially one pair of boots (and wearing them literally TO DEATH) all winter long, I'm owed a little variety. Also, they are doing a pretty good job of filling the void in my heart left by these pieces of wonder:

Photobucket

I thrifted these back in my magpie high school days, and had hung onto them through the years with my eye on some far off time when I might actually be approaching a state of radness/comfortableness with looking like a nut job to actually wear them in public. Now that such a time has finally come, they are nowhere to be found! I've scoured my room back home to no avail. It's actually borderline embarrassing how much their loss upsets me.

So sad! So silly. My life in a nutshell.

the handmade lover

Photobucket

I just discovered this incredibly adorable little etsy shop, Kit-Bit-S. They also have a real life store in Thailand, pictured above.

From what I gather (and choose firmly to believe) the shop is run by three sisters, affectionately referred to as "Kitty" "Rabbit" and "Squirrel" (which is also where the name comes from, get it?) The etsy portion is run by Rabbit, the eldest, and includes both vintage and handmade items, basically every single one of which I would like to run around in this Spring. I mean...

...OH HELLO yellow and white bunny print (!!!)

Photobucket

This one already sold but maaaybe if cry every night/pray every day, it'll come back to me? SO PRETTY. KIT-BIT-S.

New dress in my store.

If it was just a little smaller, I would hold on tight and never ever let it go.

Plus...

The boots!

Turns out they're a size 10-10.5. Uhhhhh, go figure they didn't fit me...

Someone with boobs PLEASE buy it and do it every inch of the justice I cannot!

P.S. The first person I thought of when I saw it was Zana. That girl would absolutely kill in it, am I right?

23.1.09

For every several times I walk away from Beacon's Closet shaking my head in sadness, wondering why I waste my (precious) time in that place, there comes a day when I actually do quite well for myself. Well enough, anyways, to guarantee that I'll come crawling back. Witness:

A new bag for school, to which I must return with heavy heart next Tuesday, which is a B-U-M-M-E-R, but at least I got a cool bag out of it ("I graduated with a degree in Film Studies and all I got was this sweet bag...which I'll probably have to sell since this degree is useless"). It's just about perfect, and the strap is detachable so it can be either a practical messenger back or a classy doctor's bag, perfect for my ~*multi-faceted*~ lifestyle. I had to shove some girls trying on hats out of the way to grab it up (look ladies some of us aren't just here on a joyride, ok?)

I've been looking for little shoes like these for sooo long. These have semi-annoying teensy-weensy heels (don't YOU DARE call them kitten heels, oh bane of my existence, you defile the good name cute fluffy baby cats everywhere with your complete, utter retardedness) but they will be nice in the spring time for trotting around.

In other news, here is a corner of my room that I am especially fond of looking at. I found the shelf on the street and quickly piled it high with crap, such as: my new, beautiful Roost teapot, a complete and utter late-Christmas surprise; an old totem pole piggy bank that was collecting dust in my room back home; and the piece de resistance, my vintage YSL faux-cheetah ponyskin shoe booties which do not, and will never, fit me but which I will take with me TO THE GRAVE.

In conclusion, I got paid to hang out with the world's cutest dog today. I can't decide if I walked him or he walked me, cuz I'm BEAT. Nap time!
